This is where we'll answer all things Liberty Belles and about the Tour. Got a hot question? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
How did you all decide on the states the tour is going to?
We chose battleground states and states that are still in their primary season during July and August.
How can I get you to come to my hometown?
Our tour schedule is pretty tight already, but send us an email or fill out our contact form and we'll get back to you!
How long is your show going to be?
We are offering local GOTV orgs a one hour USO-style drag musical that discusses political empathy, the power of local organizing, and getting your head in the right place to do the work. That hour will feature a local performer and at the end of the show the local organizations will have a chance to speak.
I'm interested in donating but I want my donation to be tax deductible. Is that possible?
Unfortunately not. We are a 501(c)(4) civic education non-profit, which means that we are ineligible for tax deductions for donors due to the nature of our political work. If you are interested in giving a larger donation for tax deduction purposes, please contact Kyle Ashby at email@example.com
This tour seems expensive. Why do you need so much money?
Drag is expensive, girl! This ain't no traditional drag show. We got video, we got audio recordings, we have period costumes, and we gotta haul all that equipment across the US. 250k is the sweet spot for us giving the show we think we'll be most engaging and fun for the audience.
Our tour can work on scale. Each city costs us about $10,750 to perform, so each time we hit that benchmark number, another state can go on our tour calendar officially. We start with Oregon and Washington and head east as the tour raises more money.
What happens if you don't raise all the money you're asking for? Will the tour still happen?
Can you pull this tour off in time? November 2018 is not that far away.
We knew this project was ambitious when we fever-dreamed it back in December 2017. We're aggressively pursuing all fundraising options and even if we raise way under what we expect, some iteration of our show will go on after covering our fiduciary obligations.
We have an obligation to our mission: educating and registering new voters. All money we raise will go towards funding the tour, which includes travel and transportation, labor and reimbursements, paying contractors and venues, and our marketing costs. Even if we only raise $3,000 out of $250,000, you will see a Liberty Belles show in 2018 (just maybe not in a city near you).
How can I make sure you're being good stewards of my donation?
Can I be a Liberty Belle, too?
Anyone can be a Liberty Belle. It's a state of mind for wanting to engage our fellow citizens in a different way around political behavior. If you're interested in performing in your local city, fill out our contact form. Our goal is to hire performers of color in every city we tour in as part of our commitment to equity, but we will consider all applications.
